Not that long ago the Dutch software industry found out that there are engineers and mathematicians in India with similar knowledge and expertise as their Western Europe colleagues. Their wages however were more attractive/interesting than those of their colleagues on the international labor market. It didn't take long before a Dutch ICT related company opened a department in India, the beginning of outsourced software development.
Currently many ICT multinationals have a department in India or somewhere in Asia, employing thousands of employees.
Suriname has benefits that are similar to outsourcing projects to the Far East.
The prices/rates are sharp, and the knowledge and the flexibility are good.
Outsourcing to Surinam has one benefit which outsourcing to the Far East hasn’t; the Dutch language is the native language in Surinam, which mans that there is no language barrier in Surinam.
Dutch is being spoken fluently in Surinam, which minimizes or completely excludes miscommunication and misinterpretation.
Within every international working relation there is the need for live communication so working hours can (partially) overlap without onshore or offshore sacrificing their sleep.
Surinam also has a bigger advantage regarding this aspect in comparison to other countries.
Surinam could be very attractive for the software industry.

And then there was Ronald van der Molen founder/owner of Misabi test management B.V.

A Dutch entrepreneur who has a Surinam wife, he came to Surinam saw and thought of opportunities for highly skilled local workers for the Dutch software industry.
The founder who also is a test manager dared to start his own department in Surinam after the success of Misabi in the Netherlands. Misabi started a department in Surinam in the year 2008, which has professional software testing as it's core business.
For clients in The Netherlands or for example the Dutch Antilles software related activities can be (partially) prepared and executed in Surinam.
Misabi test management wants to mean something for the Surinam community and help to improve the quality of automation in Surinam. As of now an enthusiastic group of people is trained and employed in a business that literally and figuratively has no bounds "the sky is the limit".
You can hardly imagine a better future within this branch.
